About Wood-Mizer

Wood-Mizer LLC is based in Indianapolis, Indiana. By its own account it has been building sawmills since 1982.

  • Hobby mills to production lines

Wood-Mizer describes its range as running from hobby sawmilling to high-production mills. Its industrial side is grouped as sawmill systems, machine centers and material handling.

  • Systems are starting points

Wood-Mizer shows its systems as example lines sorted by log diameter, volume and wood type, and says it designs and engineers custom lines to suit the mill.

  • Handling that fits the mill you have

Wood-Mizer says its log decks, conveyors and tables are modular, configured to log length, diameter and site layout, and can be retrofitted to existing lines.

  • Where Bailey’s fits

Wood-Mizer questions

Anything else, call a specialist at 1-888-465-8227.

Is Bailey’s a Wood-Mizer dealer?

Yes. Bailey’s is a Wood-Mizer dealer for industrial systems: the WM2500, WM4500 and WM5500 headrigs, Wood-Mizer sawmill systems, its edgers, resaws, multirips and twin vertical saws, and its log decks, conveyors, tables and log tally scanner. Call 1-888-465-8227 or send the form below and a specialist will go through them with you.

Does Bailey’s sell Wood-Mizer portable sawmills?

No. Bailey’s handles Wood-Mizer’s systems side only: the WM industrial headrigs, sawmill systems, machine centers and material handling. Wood-Mizer’s portable sawmills are not part of our range, so for those contact Wood-Mizer directly.

Which Wood-Mizer edgers and resaws can I get through Bailey’s?

Board edgers: the EG300, EG350, EG400, EG800, EA1000 and EA3000 (the EA models are automated optimizing edgers). Horizontal resaws: the HR250 Super, HR300, HR500, HR700, HR1000, HR5500 and HR6000. Also the MR200, MR250, MR3000 and MR6000 multirips and gang saws and the TVS, TVSHD, TVSHD Eco and TV6000 twin vertical saws. Each runs standalone or as part of a line.

Edgers and resaws
How do the WM2500, WM4500 and WM5500 differ?

All three are electric horizontal band headrigs for logs up to about 40 to 41 in, as published by Wood-Mizer. The WM2500 (30 HP) runs from a standalone operator console with a debarker as standard. The WM4500 (30 HP) is Wood-Mizer’s flagship, run from an enclosed cab with touchscreen setworks and a built-in board return. The WM5500 (50 HP) is a twin-rail wideband headrig with PLC setworks and a blade width chosen at order, from 2 in up to 5 in. Wood-Mizer lists the WM5500 as the successor to its WB2000 for large-log lines.

Compare the WM headrigs
Where do I get blades and parts for these machines?

Ask a specialist when you plan the machine. Blades, sharpening and spare parts depend on the model and the blade width you choose. For example, Wood-Mizer lists no sharpener or setter for blades wider than 3 in, which matters on the wideband WM5500 and HR6000. We go through blade supply and parts for your configuration before you order.

How does quoting work?

Send the form or call 1-888-465-8227 with your logs, species, target output, current setup and site power. A specialist works through the Wood-Mizer machines and options that fit, and you get a written quotation that lists the configuration and what is included. Prices depend on the configuration, so we don’t publish a price list.

What power do Wood-Mizer industrial machines need?

They are electric. Wood-Mizer lists the WM2500 and WM4500 at 30 HP and the WM5500 at 50 HP, and its machine centers from 10 HP per resaw head up to 2 × 100 HP on the MR6000; hydraulics, conveyors and other machines add to that. Motors this size normally need three-phase service. Some of Wood-Mizer’s US pages, including the HR700 resaw and the EG300 and EG400 edgers, list only a European 400 V 50 Hz supply, so confirm North American power with a specialist before you choose.

Is financing available?
